Trains News Wire FLASH: Fillmore & Western seeks STB oversight in rail line dispute

Boggling index; eleven on a scale of 1-10.
4 comments, from 4 states none of which are within about 2,000 miles of the F&W, 2 of which read c-o-u-n-t-y as “city,” 1 comment a blanket statement accusing ineptness, hugely incorrect. The 4th…my guess since the F&W is an interstate common carrier, the state is abrogated by the feds.

Another venue to pursue is the California State Public Utilities Commission. (PUC) The PUC is charged with regulating transportation infrastructure throughout the state of California.

These stories never present enough information to reach a conclusion.

Mr. Carlin go to the F&W website and read the president’s words on the situation. Its a good 10 minutes read. Then, you will be as well informed as some of us out of staters. I stand by inept.

A successful railroad vs. a local inept city government.

Well said, Mr. Norton. I wonder if said City Government seeks to hand it to some political crony, or are they going to crusade to turn it into another trail for the granola-munchers?

I lived in Ventura county, roughly ten miles from Fillmore, for about 20 years prior to escaping several years ago. As far as the greedheads in the multi-zillion dollar palatial governmental campus located five miles down the freeway from Ventura’s semi-slum downtown are concerned, the agricultural area around the Fillmore-Piru “corridor” has always been a non-place to be totally neglected as it slides further into poverty. Being not quite close enough to L.A. or freeway access to interest big-time bedroom community developers, the area, its residents and its railroad were of zero interest to the politicians. The area and its residents are still not even blips on the so-called "supervisors’ " radar, but the railroad operators screwed up. They made the line successful, so, predictably enough, the Pacmen and women in the supervisors’ boodleroom, oops I muat mean boardroom, want to vacuum it up.

I strongly agree with Jeff.

The Wilkersons have put their lives into this venture, to the delight of many. That they succeeded, given all that they faced, is a tribute worthy of commendation. The officials in Ventura need more constituents like the Wilkersons, and should have their heads examined for attempting such a folly. Another black mark on politicians rather than a round of applause for a job well done, Dave and Tresa.

Get it hopes, Dave & Teresa!!!

We need it too smooth!!!
