So much for ‘professional’ truck drivers learning from the experiences of others!
Q473 , empty Tropicana juice train. Driver to be cited according to reports in news media her in MD this morning.
Has this crossing had a disproportionate share of collisions in the past? Should steps be taken to improve the crossing? Even a simple stop sign might help.
Oh when will they ever learn. When I was in drivers ed many, many, moons ago I seemed to remember what crossbucks looked like along with the statement "Stop, Look, and Listen " imprinted in my mind whenever I saw one of those signs. I suppose the Baltimore County government had better start scraping together the money to pay for an overpass at that site because it seems that the truck drivers will NEVER learn. Locals keep calling for lights and gates at that crossing but the truck drivers would probably go around the gates to beat the train!
Darwinism knows no boundaries
At problem crossings like this, how about closing the street crossing the rail line instead of closing the rail line crossing the street? If you close one, close the other. It’s fair justice for both.
