Trains News Wire VIDEO: Interview with Ed Dickens on moving Big Boy No. 4014
Cannot locate video to watch
The video doesn’t work. There is an error message stating Video not found or access denied. Any ideas?
Excellent. Thanks for the update. Not much more ‘hard’ technical information or dates, but interesting nonetheless, particularly how the UP crew skewed #4014 around to line up with the Metro tracks. I look forward to the next update and the ‘live’ coverage from the 25th Jan. Thanks, Trains Magazine. (I’m a regular reader for over 20 years.)
I hope that webcam sent to whole world & I’m from Australia & I love to see the BIG BOY move on the main track… Please, Please I need u can put on the Caption the video screen because we are deaf thank u from Steve
Interesting, but would have been richer with infographics and maps (a TRAINS speciality!) matched to what he was talking about…
Just out of curiosity… was the delivery to its museum location after retirement as long & drawn out and its current removal?
There is bound to be some interesting video when it does start moving “home”.
Congrats to everyone involved.
wheres the video?
Enough on the #4014 move. Tell us when it actually moves somewhere. Typical “Uncle Pete” BS, methinks. Ever ride the “Sunset”, or the “California Zephyr”? I think they are treating it as an Amtrak move. Well, after 1,203 freight trains go by…
Ed, Where are you going to display your HO model?
“Enough on the #4014 move”?
Mr. Hays, you do know that this is TRAINS, right? Were you one of those kids that yelled at your mom on your birthday because she got you the wrong kind of star wars toy?
Personally, I can’t get enough of this coverage. Many thanks to Trains Mag and Mr. Dickens. Oh, and “Uncle Pete” as well.
Exactly what kind of oil will be used for fuel? I hope it won’t be that nasty Bunker C Fuel oil that smells like a sewage treatment plant when it burns.
Cant wait for the live stream.
Thank you so much to everyone involved with this project. I made a promise to a tour guide at Steamtown, after seeing their Big Boy, if I ever won a big lottery he would get to see a Big Boy restored, and under steam. This will be just as good.
Good Luck
Joe
Love all the coverage; I realize these things take time, so all the “mini videos” TRAINS is putting out are great. It’s been brought up before but not answered: any chance of #844 or the Challenger participating in the move, if only one day? Maybe for the final approach into Cheyenne? Now THAT would make a statement!
Awesome! I never thought I would ever see a Big Boy alive and moving on it’s own. I hope I live long enough to see 4014 do it!
Looking forward to the live streaming on Jan 26, the move up Cajon in March(?) - would like to know the exact trackage route - and eventual live steaming out LA way in a few years. Will Uncle Pete let folks watch at least certain aspects of the rebuild?
Jim, what time do you expect to start Live Streaming video of UP 4014 on Saturday night (Jan. 25 / Jan. 26)?
Cam is up and running inside now, 2 hrs and 15 min wait now… lets hope the batteries in the cam are charged, it looks a little broken up refreshing, but you can see it…
