I don’t thank this merger will happen. HH will destroy NS as a railroad. NS is the better railroad anyways plus it has to go before the STB and they don’t want anymore mergers right now.

" They see and hear Trains…" I can’t hear but can see., close-captions please.

Great idea to produce a weekly video summary. If I may, a couple of production tips. Restrained use of cut-away shots related to topics would help relieve the “lock-shot look”. This should be a relatively simple post production task. The use of lavalier microphones could possibly reduce the hollow sound of single microphone coverage of multiple panelists in a studio/room with less than perfect acoustics. Good luck on the effort. Looking forward to the year ahead.

Excellent idea. Some thoughts as you work on the format: the talking heads approach can be very stilted, especially when the presenters’ eyes aren’t focused on the camera or the person talking. Beware ‘wandering eye syndrome’. More visuals and dynamic camera work would enhance the broadcast. Or are you committed to a fixed, one-camera approach with no visuals? If so, why not just make a podcast? Am looking forward to future news round-ups!

The guys and gals over at MRR/mrvp have gotten MUCH better at this sort of thing over the last few years, i’m sure the same will be true here. Speaking of mrvp, I hope to see this in there.

I completely agree with everyone that is saying to do a podcast. I know that you want this to be a subscriber only service but this could be so much more powerful if it were available on iTunes. You barely have anything going on visually anyways, why not just rip the audio and make that free - you’ll get so much more exposure that way.

Its about time, long overdue! I’m excited to see these, thank you for finally doing this!

Looking forward to future news film features. My personal suggestions:
-Improve the set, more eye popping background (i.e. collage or pictures of trains & maybe national railroad maps, animated pictures of track)
-Report news stories like TV Studio News Reporters-neutral & professionally focused. Watch local news stations for inspiration.
-If you are going to discuss news stories like CP-NS Drama for example, then follow national news studio style-political fashion. (i.e. CNN or Fox News)
-I think viewers/subscribers would also enjoy quick video clips of the railroads in action in which you are reporting, or at least pictures and a system, area, or future map of railroad being reported for story.

Good first time production. Very informative. Report of listening in conference call informative that is hard to pick up in text only. On the other hand, coverage didn’t include the BNSF and UP takes on “what if’s”. To put the viewers more at ease [staffers will probably continue to show nervousness for a time which I as a viewer felt] suggest two or three cameras, individual microphones, limited post-production and interspersing images/videos so the viewer’s focus is on hearing what is being said. Keep up the good work.

@Aaron Bauman: I hope that you get your wish. As a seeing and hearing reader, it makes sense to me. But, it may take a while.

I’ve heard stories that Joe Boardman was going to leave at the end of Obama’s term.
