Trains to return to St. Paul Union Depot on May 7

Isn’t Memphis a different situation, because the sole remaining train is on Illinois Central metals, using the Illinois Central station (which retains a lot of that marvelous neon signange)?

While I think it’s great to see Amtrak moving back into SPUD, I still think another station for the Twin Cities area would still be in order. they should either retain Midway station to serve along with SPUD or build a new station in Minneapolis. I recently saw an online video of the next light rail line to be built in the Twin Cities and if I remember correctly, it’s going to have an intermodal station in conjunction with the Northstar commuter rail line. there’s no reason under the sum why Amtrak couldn’t stop there as well.

My folks will be riding the Empire Builder this summer and dad has memories of the Milwaukee Road station in St. Paul. One of the grandkids is living in the Twin Cities, so they hope to have a short visit with them while the train is on layover.
