Trainworld.com

Anyone have any opinions (i.e. good or bad experiences) about Trainworld.com? They have a switcher that I am interested in. The MSRP is $110. Trainworld is giving a blowout price of $29.99. I’m always a little cautious about a deal that’s seems “just a little too good to be true”. Thanks ahead a time for your input. [:)]

It’s the reputation of the Manufacturer you should also be concerned with.
I have been doing business with them for seven years and never-never a problem.
Must remember, you can’t hold it in your hand or pre-test. If you change your mind after you get it, it’s additional return postage and 15% re-stocking fee.

I have been doing business with Trainworld for over 20 years, and continue to do so. They are really a phone order place, rather than an internet dealer.

A friend of mine has placed many orders with Trainworld, including several for myself and others so we could combine shipping. Great prices, great service, I would not hesitate to recommend them. The only hurdle to us living in Canada is their flat shipping rate to us of $24.95. With large combined orders this can be spread around to lessen the blow. We’re rather lucky as my friend has a P.O. Box in nearby Maine, and has stuff sent there much cheaper.

We recently each ordered a Life Like RDC-3 from them, at $19.95. I paid close to one hundred dollars Canadian for my first RDC.

I’ve had good service from Trainworld. And I’ve bought some of their $29.99 close-outs that were real bargains.

Many thanks, fellas! You’ve been a BIG help!!!

I’ve ordered from them several times with good results. Just remember, you are calling the heart of Brooklyn. It may take a moment for you to pick up the dialect.

Trainworld’s Blow Outs are generally left-overs, and you may have noticed these are ‘Selected’ roads.

If you are willing to accept THEIR road names, GO for it. Otherwise you better call them to see if they have your particul ‘brand’ available.

Caveat: Whatever they have in-stock will be shipped immediately - no holds.

I have purchased engines like the special several times from TrainWorld. You have to take the road name they offer in some cases, but sometimes you can pick from several different ones that they are offering. The people you talk to know very little except for stock numbers and road names, so don’t expect any more from them. Anytime you can get a unit for thirty bucks or less, it is a blowout for sure. The S1 switcher they were offering was a great deal for me as it was in the road I wanted.

On one of my recent orders, I offered to pay the higher price to get the road name I wanted, but Trainworld would not agree to that deal, according to their policy, so I passed on the deal.

I bought by Proto 2k SF GP60s from Trainworld, and their customer service was great. I recommend them.

Take care,

Russell

I have the chance to go there any time I want. They are very friendly and professional, and usually have what you want for good prices ! I recommend them!!!

I just received a LL P2K GP-9 (ATSF#721) that was on sale for $29.99. They are going fast and it looks like we are facing a significant increase in price on future releases. I have bought five LL locoss at this price. Their website has what they offer (price, roadname, even road number). I ordered this loco on Monday and received it Thursday. They have always done an excellent job for me.

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to report back in. I placed my order into Trainworld 5 days ago and it arrived this afternoon. Took the P2K S1 NYC switcher out of the box and it runs GREAT!!!

I was pleased to be able to get the specific road number (#687) that I wanted. $29.99 for a brand new MSRP $110 switcher, with only a 5-day waiting time is a pretty good deal in my book. I’ll probably do some business again with them in the future.

Once again, I REALLY do appreciate all of you who contributed info. Do you think you could also help cover the cost of the purchase? (Just kidding =O) Thanks!!!

Tom
