transformers and dcs

Hey all,
I have a small loop of track which I am running a halloween theme. I am currently powering the track with the lionel cw-80 transformer. I was wondering if it was ok to hook that into the TIU and run my train conventionally with the mth remote. I looked it up in the book and that particular transformer is not on the list for being compatible. I was just wondering if it would not run properly, as I said I just want to run it conventionally but witht the remote. Does anyone have any experience with this.
Happy railroading,
John

MTH has stated that the Lionel CW80 is NOT compatible with DCS because it uses a cropped sine wave. IT is most likely that you would have problems with this transformer.

I agree with Spanky, and with the CW80 being a problematic transformer, it will be a good idea to get another transformer that uses a pure sine wave, like MTH’s Z750 or Z1000. I’m not sure why Lionel would make such a transformer that is so warped like that anyway.

I myself soon am planning to get the Z4000 and the DCS system together.

yeah i have 2 z750 running to fixed loops of track on dcs. I just had the cw80 and wanted to run my switcher with the remote.
I have heard lots of people say bad things about it, fortunately it runs my track fine… so far anyways. Well thanks for the insight I will have to get another 750 or the 4000.
