Transformers

I have two different transformers for my layout. The first one is an MRC Tech II Railmaster 2400 with Automatic Pulse Injection and the other is an Atlas Custom Power 1700 with the box saying (No Pulse Power To Damage Precision Motors). What is Pulse Injection, do I need it or not and can it damage motors?

provided it works the same way with said transformer(s) as with in other elecrtonics, pulsing the power is a way to slow down how fast something will spin (in this case the speed of the motor in the loco). it essentially works by supplying constant voltage (as opposed to varying the voltage), though with a cycle rate (ie on/off x times a second) controls the speed of anything drawing power from the bus (er, rails); and this pulsing could potentially cause the motors in the loco to prematurely fail as they turn on and off repeatedly to maintain speed.

I wouldnt worry about it. MRCs are considered some of the best power packs. If they ruined motors I dont think that would be the case.
