Transition Era(West Virigina)?

Hello,

I was wondering #1, when the transition era was and #2, which locomotives I could use that are DCC Ready(Sound optional) with a paint scheme that relates to West Virigina.

BTW, I want to know because this is where my train club is modeling(I thought it’d be easier to ask you guys).

The Transition Era was the change from steam power to diesel power. This occured during the 1940s and 1950s. What railroads is your club modeling? B&O, C&O, Virginian, and N&W come to mind right away.

The transition era saw steam yielding to diesels starting in the 40’s on the B&O, 1950 on the C&O, early 50’s on the VGN and very gradually and begrudgingly on the N&W, which didn’t start buying diesels until 1955 and finally dropped the fire on Y-6b number 2190 on May 6, 1960. By that time VGN had become part of the N&W.

On all of those railroads, the major revenue producer was coal, from West Virginia mines.
