What type of operation are you looking at? Here in Pennsylvania they are transloading material for the Marcellus Shale, coal loads and others.

Whoops i thought i forgot somethin[#oops]
Im lookin for autorack operations
Here’s a small one near Vancouver. Pretty boring all and all. Nothing but pavement.

Another one is in Calgary Alberta. Open up Google Earth and go to 50-59-32N, 113-59-23W. The Streetview function will even allow you to peek through the fence.

go to bing maps site. brooklyn illinois. follow route 3 (north 2nd st) north to where it makes the jog and becomes 4th st. just past residential area is Kerr st. the auto transfer facility is on the left or west side of route 3 two blocks south of Kerr. use the bird’s eye view to get a good look at it. notice they have a portable ramp too for use on the north end of the tracks. i think it is served by the NS (old Wabash) or perhaps the TRRA. i can’t remember which.

Griz, I will look for the yard but i might end up makeing my own.
Thanks everyone for your help!
Here is a pretty well documented small autorack loading yard (it is the second hit on the first page of a plain google search using search terms:+autorack +yard …):

Maybe the 2 track autorack unloading track will give you a modeling idea. This is located on the Bucyrus club layout.
I looked over the photos you all shared and concluded that the yards shown are not for me. I will attempt to construct a 4 track yard with 2 parking tracks.
Thanks!
Check out Bahia, CA (east of Benicia and the north end of SP’s,now UP’s, Suisun Bay Bridge) on Google Maps, satellite view. It is located between a refinery inland and a reserve fllet at the edge of the bay. New autos come off ships from overseas. There is a big parking lot, portable loading ramp, several tracks, and a good-sized building whose purpose I don’t know (inspection and possible repair of incoming autos?).

One other thing I failed to mention about these yards up here in the Great White North that could make things more interesting.
Once these big floating bricks have unloaded their cars from abroad, the empty Auto Racks are pulled out and Centre Beam lumber cars are pulled in and big forklifts unload the lumber from the rail cars and load it into these massive car carriers. I have seen this often. It would make that big boring parking lot a little more interesting as far as rail ops go.

Here is information on the facility (http://www.amports.com/locations.html#benicia).
Here is a look inside the buildings, not necessarily at Benicia (http://www.amports.com/services.html).
Vehicles are also shipped in by rail from various North American plants.
I would be suprised if anyone had any photos since normally the general public cant even get within a 1/4 mile of the place for security reasons.
Riverside,
I was thinking more along the lines of people give me an area of wher the yard is then i’d look for it on bimg maps.
Heres the old ford van plant at lorain, the loading rack was 4 tracks holding 6 cars each
