When we Modelers recieve out Models. How or where do they come from. Do they come from over seas? Are they shipped by container,Train,Truck,Ship,etc.
How long does it take for our Models to clear customs agents at the ports then to be shipped to us? How does the whole prosess work out when it come to our Model Trains? Thanks,Allan.
Depends on the manufacturer. Not very many are made in the USA any more. Most do come from overseas. For example, I bought some new Walther’s Superliner cars last year, all were marked “Made in China.” They have dark tinted windows, no interior, no lighting, and a crappy knuckle coupler that I quickly replaced. At a $27 each price tag (retail) it makes you wonder who is getting the big savings. However, I believe some of the Athearn Blue Box (kits) are still made in the USA, the P42’s I bought to pull the Superliners aren’t marked that they’re made outside the USA. The Athearn RTR’s are another story (China?).
