Trix HO scale Big Boy 4-8-8-4 steam locomotive makes a big impression

I have it now, with sound… great!

This is the one to get

A super machine! I’m looking for a sound decoder for this specific model, but I guess it will be hard to install. But even fitted with the conventional decoder I think is the best model available

Well…another Big boy model! I would guess that Trix would be the one to beat due to their excellent drive train components and detailing. Another post had compared the PCM and Trix with sound and felt both were very good performers. I would think the Trix “Bell” shaped armature in their motor would create more power and longevity by design but that is only speculation on my part. I would also speculate the Trix running gear to be superior in longevity and tracking rouph track than the others. Customer support and repair parts would be another thought when spending this kind of money on a model. Trix, PCM and Athearn, Who’s Big Boy would I choose? Lets see if MTH jumps on board. Their Challenger is mighty nice! All drivers are sprung with excellent tracking and same price range. I really don’t know yet.

In HO scale, the Big Boy’s don’t get any better than the Trix! It is truely a classic locomotive. Detail is incredible! A masterpiece in modeling excellence.
A must have for the collector or aficionado! Get one if you can, you only live once!!

Without a doubt, the Marklin/Trix Big Boy has to be the best of the HO Big Boys! It is built like a fine swiss watch and the detail is amazing. The whole package with the presentation case, display board and locomotive is a true class act.
The Trix Big Boy runs even better than it looks, pulls like the real deal and tracks extremely well. Life is short, get one if you can find one! Enjoy!
