Trouble down(or up) loading pics.

Hi.My son took some great latout pics today but we can’t get’m uploaded to photobucket. They are in TIF and pb wants Jpeg. How or what do we do?

Thanks!!!

Terry

Convert them to JPGs as they require. TIFF files are way too big.

Hi Bob and thanks for responding.I’m a real moron with this kind of stuff. I know we have to convert to jpeg ,we just don’t know how. We downloaded the pics to the puter, took forever, then tried to upload to photobucket. That’s where we had the problem.

How do we convert? Is there a button to push, a program, what do we do? The pics are no longer in the puter, but are in the camera. The Canon software was installed. Is there something we missed? We dl’ed into a new file at first.

I can build you a new house from the ground up but this is frustrating the h… out of me![sigh]

Thanks. Terry

Hey, Terry!

Since you apparently have a Canon camera, you should have gotten some photo editing software with it. When you have downloaded the pics into the computer, using the Canon software to do so, open the editing software and open each picture in the editor. The choose “File/Save as” from the menu, select “jpeg” or “jpg” as the file type, and click “Save”. that’s all there is to it. You can then upload the files to Photobucket. Have fun - looking forward to seeing the pics!

You can use the Cannon software as described by gmcrail or you can use MS paint and Photoshop to open TIFF files and save to JPEGs as described above.

The images must have been converted to TIFs somewhere along the line, as the camera will not save them that way. They’ll do JPGs and RAW, but not TIFs unless I’ve missed something in the 5 Canon digital I’ve owned. As suggested, use the supplied software that came with the camera.

And converting large images to JPGs isn’t the whole solution of they too are fairly large; they come out of my camera at around 3500K. I resize all the images I post on forums to under 100kb, using Paint Shop Pro XI. Other software will do the same.

A great program that I use is called XNVIEW. It is free and allows you to convert any photo format and edit your photos.

Did I mention that it was free?
