Truck Reaming Tools

I had some problems with some passenger trucks that wouldn’t roll, and I reamed them out with “The Tool”. WOW, what a difference. Now I can’t keep the cars still. If you have any problems with trucks not rolling smooth, you gotta get one of these. It is the best ten bucks I have spent in a long time. I guess the Kadee axles are too long for the Train Station Products trucks. It would seem that the better the trucks roll the less wear and tear on locos.[^]

And the more cars you can pull! I give all of mine a shot or two when assembling a car or pulling maintinence. It’s one of those “why did it take so long for somebody to come up with this” items

Are you talking about the Truck Tuner from Micro Mark? Hopefully! I plan on getting one soon. Good to hear about your success. I’m getting tired of cleaning the axle pockets out with a shortened Dremal bit.

Quite the gizmo! I highly recommend it.

My problem is that the wheel sets are too loose in the trucks.

I must be lucky as I have never had a truck set too tight!

I have “the tool” and it really helped. Having said that, on looking at it closely I suspect I could have achieved the same results with a phillips screwdriver of the right size

It was not from Micro Mark. It was from some tool and die outfit from Kansas City. I am sure they are all the same though. Can’t reccomend this highly enough. Especially since the passenger train I am modeling right now is 18 cars long. Need to take it easy on those Genesis F7s.
