There was an article many moons ago of a massive layout in Pensylvania of a business man. He had the layout in building offsite from his house and he also had custom classic cars on the first floor and 2nd floor trains. Does anyone remember this issue? I need to research how he built that building.
That’s not it. The article he’s talking about–which I remember but can’t locate–was about a serious model railroader with a large layout built for operating, not a tourist attraction.
You’re probably thinking of Ken McCorry’s massive layout, housed in the second floor of a two-story barn he had built, with space for cars below. Model Railroader April 1999 and Dec. 2004. I don’t think there’s any detail in the MR articles on the construction of the building, although there is an exterior photo in the 4/99 article.
