Hello I was watching RFD tv trains/locomotive yesterday and they were showing bits and pieces from the Delaware/Hudson and there was a yard shot in the first few min and I seen a B/O boxcar. It had a 2 tear roof ? It almost look like it had a over hang on it. I have never seen a boxcar roof like it. The roof look like it was made from corrugated metal. Thanks Frank
Try searching through the photos on the B&O Historical Society web site. Without a better description including the date the video was taken and the road number on the car, it’s hard to determine exactly what you saw.
Did it look anything like this photo, a B&O Wagontop Box Car?

This doesn’t fit your description, but was one of the most unique B&O box cars.
Hello no that’s it and I did not see any on that site. If you are looking at the end of the car you would see the roof walk board then the roof would be a few inches lower. That piece of roof look like it was 2-3 feet wide then it drop 3-4 inch to another piece and that went over the edge of the car 4-6 inches. I am guessing on the size’s . My best guess is the video was made late 40’s It look like it was 8mm film? Thanks Frank
I remember seeing a B&O car knee deep in weeds on a siding in Baltimore… at first glance I thought it was a wagontop, but it was smooth sided, and the roof looked almost like a covered hopper. It had an odd 2-tiered shape to the roof, the top of which was about 8-12" above the line of the side of the car.
Somewhere in the stack of stuff I have a photo… but don’t expect to see it anytime soon.
