Tsunami and Hornby 2-6-6-6 Allegheny

Is the Tsunami “Heavy Steam” a good articulated sound match for this locomotive? I notice that they don’t appear to list any C&O-specific arrangements or whistles. With only 2 inoperative H-8’s in existence, I know nothing out there will be an exact match. If one of the Heavy Steam whistles is close, which one is it?

Since Walthers is going to be importing the H-8 with DCC and sound (ESU Loksound), which is more accurate for the H-8? I don’t see anything close to the H-8 on ESU’s site (I am assuming they will use the Big Boy sound?)

Regardless, the Tsunami comes with an integral locomotive decoder, correct? You should only have to mount it with some aftermarket speakers (vice using an additional decoder from another manufacturer). Same with Loksound?

Well the good news is the chuff rate is adjustable on the Tsunami even to the point of being out of sync, as for the whistle

some C&O folks tell me that some of the C&O locos sounded like they had steam boat whistles

Not much help I know but I’ll be playing with the 6 choices soon and maybe get an opinion from my C&O friends which sounds best

I know nothing about LOK sound Guess time will tell on that one

Thanks Terry, I appreciate the input. The Tsunami sounds great, I just wish it had a more prototypical C&O whistle.
