I have just recivied my Tsunami heavy steam dsd.I was supprised to read about a device i had never heard of before!!!
What is a “cam wiper switch” and where is it found on a steamer, also what does it do and is there any way around this .I intend to fit the dsd in a PK2 2-10-2.
Don´t worry, you don´t need the Cam switch, it is only if you want the chuff to be a 100% sync´d with the wheels that you need it. When you don´t use the cam you will need to alter a few CV´s to make the sync instead.Have you read the manual? In it you will find all you need to know about a Steam-engine installation. Good luck. There is an Ivory wire comming out the back of the Tsunami (assuming you have the 1000).
The way it works is when ever that wire comes in contact with on of the rails, the decoder will make the chuff sound.
To install it, you need to install a chuff cam. Now, there are many, many different strategies for chuff cams and if you did a Google search you will come up with many examples.
Rick Bell, a online DCC dealer has a Yahoo Group with quite a few DCC/sound clinics. The sound cam is one of them. Some people experience double chuff’s at times using the method by SoundTraxx. Join the group and look in the Files section. The files are PDF files but I would rather not copy his stuff and post it here. Links will not work as you have to join the group to see the files. Keeps spammers out.
