TTI Train Derailment in Mason Co. Kentucky

This past Friday 3-19, there was a TTI train derailment in Lewisburg KY. There were 5 engines on the ground and 13 loads of coal derailed.

On yahoo kentucky railfan site and local news sites it states that the front-end crew were taken to and released from the hospital with minor injuries.

Cleanup was to be extensive due to fuel being leaked and trying to keep it out of a nearby creek.

It has not been determined yet what may have caused the accident. Said it may be a couple days for cleanup before they will know.

Wow, 5 engines… must have been more than a few pennies on the track.

Actualy there has been a case where a pennie shot from the wheel, punctured a air hose, caused a runway and deariled the train. No one was injured.

I forgot where I heard this… I will get back to you…
