TTX is the reporting mark for Trailer Train, Inc, a corporation established in early 1956 by the Pennsylvania Railroad (originally known as TrucTrain). TTX owned the flatcars that PRR (and other) truck trailers rode on. Trailer Train suvived Penn Central, Conrail, and even Norfolk Southern. TTX is one of the last surviving corporate spin-offs of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Trailer train company or trailer train corporation is now known as TTX Corporation.

TTX is the current name of the Trailer Train corporation. In addition to it’s fleet of flatcars, autoracks, and intermodal equipment, TTX operates the Railbox and Railgon equipment pools.

TTX was organized as an independent company in 1955, to provide free-running (or demurrage free) and standardized intermodal equipment. The PRR was one of the original investors and provided most the original equipment. Eventually, most railroads bought into Trailer Train to gain access to it’s equipment pool. Today, all the Class 1’s have a share of it.
