Tubular Track

I know the difference between O & O27 track!! What I need to know is, did Lionel make the long 35" or 40" straights in O or O27 and which is which as I’ve seen the discribed both ways on the bag? Thanks

The 35 inch is 027, the 40 inch is O gauge, measure a single section of either track and multiply by four, as that is what the longer sections of straight track are based on.

I believe that an O27 straight section should be 8.839, or about 8 27/32 inches long, which would make a quadruple straight about 35 3/8 inches. But it seems likely that the rationale for that length has been forgotten, leading to considerable variation, over time and among manufacturers. I have examples varying from 8 3/4 to 8 7/8.

K-Line made long O27 straights of exactly 36 inches, and half-lengths of 18 inches.

hunwhahowwhowha??? No offence soni, I was just thinkin for less connections on straight aways would lessen dickin with shorts this x-mas, as 19 pcs of trk are for .99$ on the bag now. Oh, I have enough track. Well waitin on a motor truck for a Frankenstein NW-2 loco I’m makin. Thanks
