I am trying to decide what manufacturer makes the best tug in Ho scale and offers fairly easy assembly. I am loking at Frenchman River , Noch and some others…Any suggestions from anyone who has been there and done this would be appreciated…Michael
It also depends on what area you are modeling. Eastern tugs look different from western ones and they look different from great lakes models. What will you be tugging with the tug? Standard barges are low, but rail barges are tall because of the rail car cargo. Rail barge tugs have a higher pilot house so the operators can see over the top of box cars and the like.
Both Pyro ,now defunct and Revell made nice tugs suitable for HO. Check e-bay or similar sites. Also you might find better info on tugs on the Fine scale modeler site under ships. They got great stuff, and good info.
Thanks for the info…Trying to obtain models in HO scale. Frenchman River does them in resin.Enjoy your layout…Michael

It is my understanding that Lindberg makes a tug in HO scale to.
