i have my ho layout it is a double oval and one siding that can be swicted back and forth from. i was wondering how wide is the average double portal entrance for ho in inches ? i just want to know how much working room i have, if it is too tight i will either make two single portals in one mt looking cayon thing.(i am modeling sante fe and around NM ) or only have one line go in to the canyon/mt/hill, thanks p.s. what do you think?
Woodland Scenics’ double stone portal is 4.75" wide inside measurement. That should help?
The WS portal works fine for 2 track straight. I had to cut 2 portals and seam together to gain about 3/8" needed for clearance on a turn with a 2 1/2" track spacing. Although most stock worked, the longer equipment (Superliners and autoracks especially) were too tight.
