Tunnel No. 10 Panorama

Hey Gang,

I finally got up to Tunnels 8 and 10 on the Moffat Line courtesy of the Rattlesnake Gulch Trail in El Dorado Canyon State Park. This was mostly a scouting journey for future photo ops, but I did manage to get a stitched panorama of an eastbound manifest (the M-RONY, maybe?) that I rather like. I’m going to post a link to this one since it really needs to be seen bigger than the forum will show it. Here’s a link to the “Large 1600” version on Flickr. You might want to check out the original version, too.

In addition to the train coming out of Tunnel No. 10, you can see the Indian Peaks on the right side of the image. Long’s Peak, one of our 14ers (peaks above 14,000 feet) is on the extreme right side of the image, too. The lighting is a little harsh on the train, but I still like this overall view because I think it tells a good story of the engineering of the line.

As always, comments and critiques are more than welcome!

Very nice photo. I can appreciate your effort in hiking up to the line. I’ve done some hiking in Colorado, but never anyplace with the word “Rattlesnake” in it.

Ok,

It official, I am going to start a petition so you don’t have any choice…you either have to publish a book, or start going someplace boring,…[;)]

Exactly, what Ed Said! [:'(]

WOW!! Very nice picture; thanks for sharing.

From 150 years ago would be: Horace Sumner, JJ Argo, E.P.Merideth and Louis Blauvelt.

(*) Blauvelt is currently driving me nuts over something he did in far southern Colorado.

I’d buy one…
