how do you stop the reverse polarity when the turtable travels 360Deg is there some gismo for this, i wish to build my own TT and this is a ? at the moment can anyone help please.
You would have to wire the feed to the rotating turntable track the same as a reverse loop with a switch. I’m sure there is a link to a wiring tutorial somewhere - I just can’t find it now. J.R.
So, turtables - anything like a turntable? [8D]
Wires to the turntable need to be controlled by a DPDT switch - Double Pole Double Throw switch, preferably with center off. Power wires to the turntable come from the center contacts. Power wire go to the outer ones, with the poles reversed. Is really simple when you understand how they work.
You couldn’t resist either huh? I think "Turtables are the peanuts, carmel, and chocolate BEFORE they are made into Turtles…mmmm [:D]
Some commercially-produced turntables (the Atlas, for example) incorporate this into the mechanism. They use a variation of a split-ring connection, which flips the polarity every 180 degrees. I did a brief search at a couple of electronics supply places, but didn’t have any luck.
If you’re running DCC, you can wire the turntable through an auto-reverser, the same kind that is used for reverse loops.
Maybe we should ask up4005 what brand turntable (or turtable) he’s using. It may already have this built into it.
