Tuscarora Railroad Marks 1 Year of Operation

You’ve seen it’s beginnings in the pages of GR… Well, 10 days shy of one year since the golden spike was driven on the Tuscarora Railroad, and we held our first official “open house” this past weekend.

Despite the first batch of batteries dying after a mere 20 minutes, trains ran very well through the rest of the day. Weather was beautiful and dry all day. Skies started to cloud over just after everyone left, allowing me to snap some photos of the trains doing what trains should be doing.

The morning calm in Neelyton is temporarily interrupted by the arrival of the morning express/mail, pulled by TRR#2.

It’s actually rare for trains to meet at Neelyton, but today’s meet is captured for posterity.

We catch the freight as it approaches the bridge crossing over Shade Creek

At Shade Gap, we find the afternoon mail rolling through

(Compare with this same spot last year during our golden spike celebration)

We leave with a photo of the reason why the TRR is celebrating its 1 year anniversary. If it weren’t for Suzanna, I would have been spending my winter building track. Thanks, Suzi!

Later,

Kevin amazing how much a year of maturity of the plantings really changes things! Looks great!

THAT IS TOTALLY COOL Kev
Congrats on your one year.

Looks really great !Congrat’s on your one year of operation .

Congratulations Kevin and thanks for choosing RCS.

very nice indeed - looks good with the planting . nice to see before and after pictures.

Nice! I see a budding young model railroader there. My layout is 8 months old and I’m ready for a G-gauge one with live steam now. I may do like you and get ready-made track. Most of the 8 months was spent cutting ties, spiking etc etc. I don’t feel like going thru that again. Looking forward to more of your articles.

The layput looks pretty good to me.
