Lately I’ve been seeing a TV commercial about CSX, beginning by depiciting a long line of trucks on a highway, that is replaced onscreen with a long line of royal blue shipping containers on a train, featuring a yellow logo listing “CSX” written over what appear to be two pair of train wheels
Is this actually a current CSX container livery, or just something made up for marketing purposes? It’s a catchy logo.
…Same commerical running here. And another CSX add is running occasionally…Glad to see RR’s advertising…Putting their name’s out there with other businessses. Telling the massses they are still here doing commerice…and I’d wager many of them {of the masses}, have no idea they are.
I haven’t seen the CSX commercial you’re describing, but CSX did recently get a couple hundred new blue containers, with the brackets and the “How Tomorrow Moves” slogan in addition to the yellow CSX lettering. They also have a goodly number of blue boxes with just the yellow “CSX” trademark on the sides.
i wonder if csx plans on adding this to their ads?
always like the cumberland pictures, anyways back on topic, I’m gald to see CSX putting ads out there. I’ve seen those new containers on a intermodel yesterday
Don’t be silly! That wouldn’t help them advertise anything. Except the company that had to get the engine outta there, guess they did it themselves. But the commercial was interesting, also have seen spots for NS too.
I haven’t seen any CSX commercials, but I have heard them on the radio. I have seen an NS commercial though.
Speaking of CSX, there was a string of CSX “hi cube” box cars on a BNSF freight the other night, and all of them had the “Big Blue” slogan painted on them. I had never seen that before, but I am assuming that is an old slogan…
CSX used the “Big Blue” slogan on several hundred high-roof 50- and 60-foot box cars built for them (many of which have been reassigned to other railroads and relettered). I think they got into a little problem with some other company (IBM?) also known as “Big Blue”. Apparently this was resolved by CSX not buying any more high-roof box cars. [;)]
A railfan I know habitually counts the cars on any freight that goes through his watching post at Fillerton, CA. After a 140 car BNSF double stack he will say “Well. that’s 280 trucks not on the road.” Same message as CSX.
Yes, those new containers are real because I saw 5 of those in a row on a container train going through Berea Ohio. I’ve seen two CSX Intermodal Trains so far that have those containers on them.
I don’t know if this was discussed at all, but I was kinda concerned about the validity of the clam they can move 1 ton of freight 423 miles on 1 gallon of fuel. Was this proven? I would think that it would be far less distance on 1 gallon.
