Twin Cities Metropolitan Council approves new light rail route
Too bad that back in 1950’s they destroyed all the light rail/trolley lines and replaced them with stinky busses. Now they will be spending billions to recreate the light rail lines. At one time you could ride a trolley from Stillwater to the amusement park in Excelsior on Lake Minnetonka.
The Southwest Light Rail line is not opening in 2018. They’re in the middle of, excuse the phrasing, a Mexican stand-off where they don’t have the $$$$$$ to use anything other than their existing plan or their one main alternative. The city of MPLS opposes the main plan and their alternative is opposed by TC&W. It’s messy that’s could be death of the project. At best it’s going to take too long to secure the additional financing to sort out the mess to be able to have it done before the end of 2018.
