Our local TV station did a Christmas human interest story on the Twin Cities Model Railroad Club here in St. Paul, MN. I’ve been to the layout several times and it’s extremely interesting. So, for those who are interested, here’s the website:
Thanks for the link. I’ve visited the club and have really enjoyed it. The work is really stupendous. Not only is the club itself wonderful, the parking garage in the back offers a wonderful view of the BNSF mainline.
Back in the 50s and 60s there was a 2 rail O scale layout in the St Paul Union station. Does anyone know whatever happened to that club/layout??? Also there was an HO club in Shakopee, in the upstairs of a hobby shop,…The club was called the Progress Valley Model RR Club. Anyone recall that one??? My brother was a junior member of the PV. We moved away from Minneapolis in 1968, and never heard about these clubs again, but always wondered about them. I had met several of the members as on ocassion I would visit the layouts. There was a real funny guy in the PV that ‘invented’ a fictious mineral so he could could build a mine on his home layout in the way he wanted, and no one could criticise it for not being prototypical. The mineral was called ‘peroit’ peer-E-ott anyone remember this??? He was rather famous in the twin cities back then.
