Two 4-4-0s to operate this month at Steam Into History

That trail of sparks you see below the the driving wheels is actually from the Flux Capacitor, as the locomotive slowly inches up in speed to 88mph.

The article refers to the locomotive as “The General”. Its name is simply “General”, just as the other one is “Texas”, not “The Texas”.

Fred. I think that it became “The General” because of the great Buster Keaton movie of the same name. Besides, I think it makes the name stand out more than just General.

the the great locomotive chase at steam into history was great . the sight of two 4-4-0s running together was something I thought I would never see. good jub steam into history.

I agree with Mr. Kerner that the movie has made “The General” the accepted name although historically not correct. Just a small error in quotation make place ment ( the “General” & the “Texas”)
