I only wish that the congressmen & senators on the mainland would understand what the distinguished senator knows how Amtrak is important is to the whole country!

If NARP wants Amtrak so bad, why doesn’t it fund Amtrak with its own money? That would be 100% constitutional and far better for everybody than stealing from taxpayers without consent. Now I will tell you why. Because NARP is mostly made up of liberal progressives who find it more convenient to spend somebody else’s money so they never have to spend their own. Socialism is for the people, not the socialist.
To the gentleman from Illinois, I suppose we could take the opposite point of view and question why the conservatives despise ONLY passenger trains but are perfectly happy to avail themselves of socialized highways, air transport, oh, and things like police and fire protection, which also use taxpayer money. It’s all a matter of how you perceive the benefits to society.
