I have been working on soundchipping a couple of locos this week, and it was perfect timing when my Champ decals arrived in the post. There’s still some work to do, but here’s a first look at them
First the Bachmann 4-8-2, fitted with Soundtraxx LC decoder.

Some of the loco details are a bit generic and differ from pictures of the Soo Line locos I’ve seen, but it was the only road I could choose that got into Chicago, albeit from the Northwest. However, I have seen pics of Soo locos on BRC trackage in South Chicago, presumably on transfer duties.

Next up is the Athearn 4-6-2 Pacific, again with LC decoder in the tender. I had to add pickups to the tender to improve running qualities and ended up in Grand Trunk Western service - a good one to choose, as Elmore Yard is in South Chicago, near Blue Island.

Again there is still some work to do - handrails, numberboards, move bell to front of smokebox, etc but it is a quite close representation, from the pics I have seen.

Very nice! How do they sound?
Thanks guys.
Jonathan, using the actual tender as the speaker baffle, they sound great.
i did some modifications to the front of the GTW 4-6-2 last night - moved the bell, worked on the smokestack, built the numberboards and added the handrails.

Nice locomotives! They should look great on your layout Jon.
Keep us posted,
