E.N. Velopes Announces N&MRR Plan for 2005-2006 By Richard “Scoop” Carails- Two Trees Times
E.N. Velopes on the back platform of the Combine El Cascabel
Two Trees, Texas- N&MRR Company treasurer, E.M. Velopes of Norma, Texas announced the company’s outlook for 2005-2006 to a sparce crowd from the back of the Garden Flyer late Sunday afternoon.
“We have a great plan going,” began Velopes, “that includes opening more miles of track to regular usage, finishing work on Poor Vic’s Curve and adding more rolling stock for the line.”
Progess has been slow on the major upgrade and was only completed just in time for the harvest.
“We expect to depend on the Railroad,” said Daniel Northerly of the Northerly Plantation, “once full service is maintained between Norma, Two Trees and Micaela, Texas our plantations will reap major profits.”
Currently the rail line extends about halfway through the Northerly Plantations and to the edge of the Del Sur Ranch and plantation, the two major agribusiness and investors in the Venture.
Stephen Flatbottom of Rosebud Falls and Sunday rider of the Garden Flyer had this to say…"
“My cousin Douglas operates a line in Rosebud Falls…if the improvements of which Mr. Velopes speaks are true, this line will surpass the efforts of my cousin and his ill fated line…tomato trees!!!”
All in all things look good as the railroad added another locomotive and logistical support is arriving for the work on Poor Vic’s Curve.
New Loco seen Pulling Garden Flyer!!! By Richard “Scoop” Carails- Two Trees Times
Latest Mogul seen pulling the Sunday Excursion of the Garden Flyer!
Two Trees, Texas- Citizens of Two Trees, Texas took note Sunday as they beheld the N&MRR Railroad’s newest addition. The Mogul was purchased from the Sow’s Ear Locomotive works and is the most advanced Mogul on the N&MRR.
The N&MRR currently has three of these Moguls, and two Ten-Wheelers from the Bachmann Locomotive Works. Earlier this year the Citizens of Two Tress, Texas donated a reconditioned locomotive from Sow’s Ear to the road. It was named the City of Two Trees, and had been pulling the Garden Flyer.
Citizens were shocked to see this new locomotive, No. 9, pulling the passenger coaches Del Sol and El Cascabel.
Sampson Betts, of the prestigous Two Trees’ Betts had this to say…
“This is outrageous!!! It is obvious that the company president is insensative to our needs.”
When asked to comment on the matter N&MRR Company President Capt. J.E. Carrales had this to say…
“The locomotives of the N&MRR will be rotated for better service and as needed. This will extend the lives of the all locomotives and insure that the City of Two Trees will be rolling for a long, long, long…well, you get the picture.”
Locomotive No. 9 will be available for viewing in Norma, Texas all this week.
Track Crew Celebrates beloved Pet
Rex the Track Dog sitting Pretty By Richard “Scoop” Carails- Two Trees Times
Riding the rails out to Poor Vic’s Curve
Two Trees, Texas- There is an unpaid, yet valuable member of the N&MRR track crew that has become a bit of an “old man” of the rails. It’s Rex, the track dog.
Found by C. Jimmy Sanderson at a local pizza establishment, the young pit bull puppy was raised into a very loyal guard and valuable member of the N&MRR workcrew.
“I named him Rex” said Jimmy Sanderson nearly sobbing, “I named him after my Father-in-law.”
Currently Rex can be found with the track gang and even with several breakman who toss him a crumb every now and then. He normally makes a bed on the back of Caboose 57.
“Its not unusual,” said Conductor Rodriguez of the Garden Flyer, “for him to fall asleep in Two Trees and wake up in Ian’s Meadow. If it wasn’t for the fact that that Caboose never leaves the line, he might wake up in California.”

N&MRR Prepares for the Landfall of Hurricane Rita By Richard “Scoop” Carails- Two Trees Times
Two Trees, Texas- N&MRR Company president, Capt J.E. Carrales made a statement this Wednesday en re the on coming threat of Hurricane Rita.
“Track crews and compmay executives made a complete survey of the line in use,” began Velopes, “We do not foresee any great degree of destruction. The Borracho Gultch trestle may be a sore spot and the Cut may see some collapses, but our crews can deal with that. Saddly, the anticipated repair of Poor Vic’s Curve will have to be postoned.”

At the time of the writing of this articlem Hurricane Rita was in a process of strengthening just west of Florida at 24.4 Degrees North and 85.3 Degress West.
"We may encourage company and staff to evacuate, "Continued Carrales, "But that will depend on how conditions look tommorow [Thursday].
I noticed in your recent article, “N&MRR Prepares for the Landfall of Hurricane Rita,” a seeming discrepency. The headline reports the rail line to be preparing for hurricane Rita, while consistantly referring to hurricane Katrina. Seeing as Katrina has passed, shouldn’t the article refer to Rita?
In any case, I wi***he N&MRR luck in weathering this latest storm.

Better round up all the chickens and batten down the hatches. Heard the wind will be hard enough to blow a dollar into 4 quarters! These hurricanes cant go on for much longer, they’re running out of names!
In watching the weather channel (it was late) they will start using the Greek alphabet to name the storms. But then again the weather service is known for being wrong…
Well Cap, hope all goes well! Hope after this shibang the railroad is still alive and healthy, no matter what the rioting residents of Two Trees may have to say about the replacement of motive power on the Garden Flyer[:D]
Thanks Vic, we are all somewhat concerned and uncertain about all sorts of things here. Pray for us all from Galveston, to Houston to Port La Vaca to Corpus Christi and also to Brownsville.
[:D] The Citizens of Two Trees, though quirky, I think might panic a bit about the prospect of destruction…but don’t mess with their motive power!!! You should have seen how they reacted to the snow last winter[:0]!
I’m sure that most of us in the U.S. are aware that Rita has developed into a strong catagory 5 hurricane and seems to be headed in your direction. I hope and pray that you and your family and friends come through this storm unscathed. Good luck.
