U.K. sound decoders

Hi all,

I’ve been looking into changing scales from On30 to N but like many commentators on this forum have been disappointed by the sound quality in U.S. N scale. As I’m in the U.K., I looked at my home market and found this on You Tube. I think the quality for N is great.

I then looked at “OO” (4mm / ft) sound locos and these too seem generally to offer better quality sounds than I’ve experienced from many RTR HO locos, even with Tsunamis.

There seems to be a wide market for decoder “re-blows”, third-party companies taking decoders and putting their own sounds onto the chips. Is this prevalent in the U.S?
