I fly all my America flags with pride and when they become unfit to be a symbol of America I give the flag and honorable burial in my flag cemetery. It’s not like UP is purposly getting the flag dirty, it’s daily opperation. It is just like all flags flying they’re going to pick up a certain amount of dirt out of the atmosphere.
This thread brings one thing to mind…GEEK!
[sigh]
I invite you over to the Model Railroad General Discussion forum for some modelers’ opinions on this topic…if you’d really care to. Some agree, some don’t…[:-,]
I think the flag looks great even better close up…not just a decal …it is a very detailed picture of a beautiful flag…God Bless America!!!
I like America as much as anyone…but really people…don’t we have more important things to worry about?
Any guess what each one of those flags costs the UP to put on a locomotive? Based on the large equipment decals that I’ve purchased in the past, each flag has to be around $100 x 2 per locomotive. That’s a bit of a commitment.
By the way… given that Abe Lincoln himself signed the Pacific Railway Act, which essentially gave birth to the Union Pacific Railroad, maybe we ought to cut them some slack on this issue, eh?
