U.P. Heritage units

What ever came of the plan for U.P. to increase the number of “Heritage” units with a C&NW unit and perhaps even others[?]

Give them time, the paint is barely dry on first batch.

heard cnw unit due in may or june[:)]

That’d be sweet!

just not paint the old ones then you have them without spending money.

Yeah, that might sound good, but those things are getting to be rather tattered-looking. The logos aren’t black white and red anymore, they’re black white and white! The panels over the engine compartment are grey, not sure if that’s primer or if they got swapped with UP-painted engines. Unfortunately, they’re not what they used to be.

Still a cool catch though! → www.fuzzyworld3.com/up01.html#f

It will be nice to see the CNW Heritage unit, hopefully it isn’t too “stylized” that it does an injustice to the memory of the railroad. I’ll have to keep an eye on Wisconsin & Southern rails for this one to come through, and with the way they paint 'em the paint will look beautiful for a long, long time! [:D]

I saw a CNW original, original at Riverside CA last week. [:p]

Get pictures?

ya UP said early 2006 for the rest of them, that was back when the first 3 came out.

that would be great if it showed up at our cnw convention this week!!!

speaking of CNW. I have got sad news for CNW fans 8575 has been patched to UP 9037. Only 2 left.

Celebrating Katy Days

May 26, 27 & 28, 2006

In 1870 the first Missouri, Kansas and Texas train rolled into a new town in southeast Kansas. The town would become Parsons, Kansas and the
railroad would be remembered as the Katy. One hundred thirty-six years later, our community celebrates its railroad heritage and town history with the sixth annual Katy Days Festival. It’s Kansas’ only railroad-themed festival. And this year it will be better than ever. The Katy Railroad Historical Society will hold its annual meeting in Parsons during Katy Days this year - so join them and thousands of others in what has become a Memorial Day weekend tradition. Ride an excursion train, renew old friendships, rekindle memories or just enjoy two days of fun, food, entertainment and railroad-related activities in a 15-acre park setting. Many events are free of charge. Come join us!

The Union Pacific will have Unit 1988 here to be seen and boarded for tours during the Katy Days celebration, just as SD70M 3793 was here last year.
Be a good time to shoot all the photos up close you want, inside and out.

The D&RGW unit is due for debut in Denver in mid June, the C&NW unit in Chicago in mid July, and the SP unit mid August in at Roseville.

Just wait! I bet they will come up with more. I hope the next one is a SP heritage unit!

It is due in July, I heard.

Personally, I think that the Heritage Units all look like candy bars to me.

What?

That will be cool, but at the same time it will SUCK!!! That means there will be no original CNW units left. They patch ALL before unvailinge a Heritage!!! Notic I do believe the next out is the DRGW and ony ONE remains unpatched and it will be patched before the unvialing!

DRGW 5371 is rumored to have a 90-day inspection next week.

And they just randomly decided to have that 90 day inspection in Horicon…
