I am looking for mile markers of Peoria Jct,Pioneer,Storage, and where is that?? Where does the Peoria Sub start??
Maybe call the six miles a “passing siding”?
The Peoria Subdivision starts at the former CNW east-west main line in Nelson, Illinois (south of the Rock River, between Dixon and Sterling). It now ends at I&M Junction (former C&IM crossing) south of South Pekin; trains use I&M to get to the old GM&O line and continue to St. Louis.
Mileposts start at Nelson…Storage is 44.9, Pioneer is 72.1, and Peoria Junction is 80.3.
Also the Peoria Sub is all track warrent, correct?
Speed limit is 50 mph? At Pottstown all northbound
traffic gets the siding and at Pioneer all southbound’s get the main, correct? I have never seen a southbound on the siding or a northbound
on the main. Is there not a “snap” switch at
Pottstown??
Yes, it’s TWC, 49 m.p.h. for the most part, at least north of the Peoria area.
There is no siding at Pioneer/Pottstown, technically, that’s double track (about six miles).
There are spring switches at both ends of the double track.
Carl, I consider the ATSF main between Chicago and Kansas City double track main.
My friends and I will always disagree about the
“siding” between Pottstown and Pioneer. I am sorry
6 miles just does not fit my idea of double track
mail line.
It doesn’t really fit my idea of double track, either…but you go by what the timetable says.
(And as for the Santa Fe, it probably says something like “two Main-track CTC”, which is different from double track in the operating rules!)
