Hey guys,
I am planning on building a sectional layout with (2) 15"x6’ attached on the ends of the long side on a 30"x6’ section. This ends up forming a sort of upside down U.

Haha I meant to ask if I could get a track plan for a layout like this.
No details about what you want.
Please give us details, size of the room, what scale, what era, what type of operations, etc.
More information is better than not enough.
Also, you don’t want to just plop down a layout, you need to do some research and design your own. Much more gratifying.
details, details, details…
oh and Welcome! [:)]
Try downloanding Anyrail… It is a program for layout planning. You are a little limited on the trial version but I have done a decent size layout the trail version by working in sections.
I planned a layout on Atlas’s Right Track Software since I’m using Atlas track. I run HO scale but I’m not 100% satisfied with it. This would be my 4th layout haha but I want to be able to actually OPERATE my layout with the waybills and car cards. I would like to have a yard where a switcher could assemble consists for a train that would deliver cars to industries. I want to have a couple of industries and I would like a sort of wilderness area to separate the yard from the industries. I need the 30" by 6’ to slide under my bed and I have only about 2-3 inches of clearance but the other 15" by 6’ sections have no height limits because they will be placed on a rack. And preferably I would like the sections to be joined together at straight sections so there will be a smooth transition. I’m 14 years old so I want something sorta profesional so I can have fun with it hahahaha
Lance Mindheim has a good book on the principles of designing shelf switching layouts.

Also I would like it steam-diesel transition era and I dont care about the location
Welcome to the forums.
Would it be possible to put the “main” section of your layout high enough above your bed, so that you would not have to take it down? Just move the ends if necessary.
Second thought, can you raise your bed, so that you have more space under it to store the layout?
You have limited space now, but will find out if you check into the above suggestions that others have made satisfactory layouts in limited space. Also, since you are young, you will undoubtedly move your layout or start new ones. Use each as a stepping stone toward your dream layout.
Good luck,
The casters on my bed are unremoveable because I’ve tried [:)]. So I can’t make more space under my bed hahaha. I also can’t leave it out because I would be yelled at by my parents haha. Would it be possible to upload an image of my trackplan and you guys improve it?
Yes let’s see what you have that’s a start at least.
Reid,
you can save your RTS track plan as a .jpg file, upload it to a host server, like photobucket, and post it here. Storing a part of the layout underneath your bed is not really a nifty solution, because it will collect a lot of dust, and wit the low clearance you have, damage to it is likely to happen.
How abou just going for an L-shaped layout, which will be up permanently? With the space you have, you can still build something, which will be rewarding o build and operate.
