UK Engineer saying Hi

If anyone has any question’s regarding U.K operation’s I will try and answer them for you.Not promising I can, that is but I will try my best.

[#welcome] to the forums.

I have a couple of questions for you.

There is another thread on the classic trains forum called “Our” Place, and there are a couple of guys from the UK who have shown us quite a few photos of the steam the runs over there. Now, I was wondering what you run? What kind of locomotives do you run? I know a lot of the trains over there are passenger since it’s a popular way to travel, but I haven’t seen a freight train before. Do you know were I might find a picture of one?

Thanks

James

Your correct. There are many excellent run’s over here with the steam and green country side. Here is a link to some photo’s of a few of our freight engines. Most of the older more interesting loco’s are leaving us as they retire.Nearly all the diesel freight engine’s are now class 66 engine’s built in Ontario canada, which are stronger than the old stuff.

Hi UK Engineer - let me add my “welcome to the forums.” I do have a question for you and that is about your experience with the modern DMUs (Chiltern Rys., etc.) in the UK. I don’t know which of the TOCs you might work for, but was wondering about any experience you might have with these products. Appreciate whatever information you can share. Regards, Art

I do drive the virgin voyager now and then. The exceleration is fantastic with a 750 cummins under each coach. These trains are only either 4 or 5 coaches long but they may be made longer in the future.

Alright, Thanks a lot![tup]

Hello UK Engineer just joined this forum thing I was wondering do the trains in the UK pull the same tonnage there?I would like to know what the gauge is 0f the tracks? Sorry about 2 questions at once.CP tiny

Hi UK Engineer, I was wondering do you have some old American locomotives there. I know that some do get shiped to other countries, but I wasn’t sure if they wound up in the UK.

The track gauge here is 4ft 8 1/2 inches

Over here the freight trains are only a few thousand tonnes, but we run a lot of them.I think this is down to the actual train length. We have a lot of trains is short signal section’s,so the length of the train cannot be very long.

Yes there are still a few of the strong s160 class engines presevered on running lines

Here are some view of two.
