There is also concern in the UK that coal fired generating plants are being closed faster than new generating capacity is brought on line and this may lead to not enough power to feed the national grid. In the UK the distribution companies and separate from the generating companies and the grid acts as the broker buying from the generating companies and selling to the distribution companies.
“The agency attributes this decline to the doubling of the United Kingdom’s carbon tax,…”
A perfect example of environmentalism being anti-capitalism.
I’m not sure protecting the environment can be called anti capitalism, there is plenty of wind, wave, battery storage and solar being developed creating wealth in other areas. Remember the change from steam to diesel power?
I think it’s the world-wide economy, more than anything else.
The problem with new technologies is they no longer use local labor or raw materials and therefore don’t contribute to a capitalistic gain. What percentage of steel, cable, controls, technology is from the native country? To top it off, the price of power continues to go up.
Wasn’t the steam to diesel transition due more to market pressure, rather than Government pressure?
