My Windows media player 9 series produces the error message:
0XCOOD11CO: Cannot play the file.
Does anyone else have this problem and better still: does anyone have a fix for this condition?
I have the same problem, and I think the fix is at your fingertips, and mine, how you set up your media player on your PC, I believe is the fix, but I"m not shure how to do it, my player will download to about 10 to 12 percent of the clip, then I get the error message, if I find the solution, I will post it here, Does anyone know how this is done? if so, please let us know. Thanks in advance for help.

You may not have enough RAM in your computer to download the video clip.
I’m assuming you have a computer running windows XP …?
Memory’s probably not the issue. Most likely you don’t have the right codec installed. From the XP media player 9 troubleshooting page:

You can not play an AVI file. Windows Media Player generates the c00d11cd error.
The most likely cause is that you do not have the correct codec installed to play back the sound and audio. Windows Media Player 9 will NOT automatically download EVERY codec there is.

That looks like a memory error to me. All the videos have worked fine for me and I am also using WMP 9. You may want to right click on the video and select “Save Target As…”.
I can’t do them either, regardless whether my pop-up-stopper is on or off. But the error message I get is unable to play - timed out. Trying to download with an anemic 56k modem that I’m lucky when I get 32k out of it. I am able to do Joe’s downloads, though and that keeps me sane!.
I can’t view them either - and it’s the same with both the Windows Media AND Quicktime versions. They’ll partially download and then an error message pops up. This is the only site that I have this problem with.
I am on dial-up, too (unfortunately) [v]. Could that be part of the problem?
I have the same problem. It loads so far and then stop saying server busy or unavailable. I have tried many times and just gave up. I also attempted the same save target as and get the same response. Oh well it won’t be the only thing I don’t get…
Works fine if you ae using WMP 10
I think it must depend on what internet connection you have. I’m on cable internet and have never had a problem.

I’ve tried (1)the update with codecs, (2) removed WMP9 and used an earlier version (3) downloaded WMP10 plus extra codex. And have the same problem for dial-up and broadband.
I don’t know if MR staff see this forum. Maybe they have an answer.
If the fixes you mention did not solve the issue, then it’s probably a hardware issue. Try going to another site and see if you can view the video clips there, for example try:
http://model-trains-video.com
If those videos don’t work, then the problem’s on your end.
Also try using a different computer (one at work, a friend’s computer, etc) and see if you can get it to work. Ideally, if you have another computer at home you could try, and if it does the same thing, then it’s your internet connection somehow that is the issue.
Also, you need to be specific with what hardware you are using, and what version of the OS you are on.
If you are not using Windows XP, then all bets are off. Windows 2000 or earlier can have issues with multimedia. If you are using windows XP, then we need to know if you have installed SP2. SP2 institutes a whole range of new internet connection changes.
