uncouple code 55

I need help! I am using code 55. I need to know what type and how to use electric uncoupler, and where to get them. I need three… Thank you

I assume you mean an uncoupling magnet for uncoupling cars? Atlas Code 55 and N scale I assume? I suppose the track manufacturer and such doesnt matter much. M.B. Klein has delayed and non-delayed magnetic uncouplers which would work with any type of magnetic couplers but they arent electric (http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/N_Scale_Track_Accessories_s/1540.htm). Kadee makes an electric uncoupling device for HOn3 thats fits any N scale track but some modifications are necessary and all the details you would need about that are here: http://aglasshalffull.org/article-uncouplers.html. Other than that im not sure any manufacturer makes an electric uncoupler for N scale track. You could always make your own elctro-magnet or go with the old faithful manual uncoupling tool which I prefer, personal preference…

Hope that helps

Don

Assuming you are in HO, Kadee’s under the track magnet is probably your best bet for rail that small. Any decent LHS should stock them or at least be able to order them for you.

If you are in N, I can’t help you. I know nothing about that world.

I would second the recommendation that you consider the manual uncoupling tool. The magnets are OK for yards and spurs, but they can cause unwanted uncoupling on the main line if the train slacks while a coupler is over the magnets. Kadee makes an uncoupling wand which is easy to learn to use and others use wooden skewers. These are easy to learn to use and the advantage is you can uncouple anywhere you can comfortably reach. You don’t have to worry about where to place the uncoupling magnets.
