"Under Seige 2" Dark Territory, Real or Model RR?

I saw glimse of this on late night cable, Seems that I could tell which scenes were model railroad (The Scenes going past the mine in the canyon) and which ones were real.(The SP train with the tank cars). Can anyone else here have a good eye for train movies which scenes are real and which ones are fake? (My apologies to model railroaders).

To my eyes it is a HO train layout blown up. Just goes to prove if I am correct that a npicture can also be doctored. [:D]

Most of Under Siege 2 was filmed using a real trainset on the Moffat Tunnel line. As I recall, the units they were using set a number of fires as they were not equipped with spark arrestors.

I think the only model work was the crash scene on the bridge at the end. Like LC said, the rest was done with a real train passing through some nice rugged scenery…

The crash scene if I can remember right was made with Lionel type trains…cant remember the scale. I saw the making of the movie and saw how they made the crash. Amazing how they made it look so real!

It’s easy for me to tell the differance between models and real trains if the scene is more than a fraction of a second. The physics are so different. I can usualy tell the scale of the models too.

LC, your right about the fires. Several fires were started while filming this movie, and the people in charge got in some trouble over it.

wcfan4ever is right about the wreck scene. It was a lionel guage model. As far as I know all the rest of the scenes are the real deal.

I eventually realized that celluloid alters the laws of physics, if not the space-time continuum itself, so now I just watch the film to see if it’s actually about something.
