Uneven Kato Unitrack

Continuing the discussion from Uneven Kato Unitrack Rail Tops:

Thank You for your help.
I have checked and rechecked the affected joints. They are assembled correctly. They are brand new 9 3/4 straight Untrack sections. Would you recommend filing?? Seen it done on UTUBE.
Thanks

You can file the top of a rail joint. Ideally, you should use very fine sandpaper to remove any scratches left by the file (scratches attract dirt).

Are the joints causing derailments? If not, I would leave them alone.

The Unitrack joiners do sometimes have a little “give” to them that could make one rail be a bit higher at the joint. If you push down on the high piece and it’s still high, an easier solution to filing may be to put a shim under the low piece.
