Unidentified flatcar

I recently acquired a red flat car, minus load, that I can’t identify. Unfortunately my camera is currently not operating so I’ll try to describe it. Any help with the identification of this car and its load would be greatly appreciated.

The car is a red flatcar with “LIONEL” on the side, but no number. The mold number is 6424-11. The car has arch bar trucks with non-operating couples, and a brake wheel. It has openings for bulkhead ends, a boat cradle, and two other 1/8th inch holes on the center line between the truck rivet and the holes for the boat cradle. Note that none of these openings appear to have been used, for example, the cradle holes still have flashing that shows on the bottom side of the car. Note also that the only stake holes are the two that would fit a bulkhead, although the bottom of the car shows where all of the normal stake holes would be.

I’ve looked online and checked all of my books and just don’t see this car

Lionel did a few of those type items ( no number) they did some cabooses also that I can rememeber

I just realized that the body of the car is the same as the liquified gas car, BUT this one has arch bar trucks whereas the 6469 has AAR trucks.

They used that same flat car mold for so many flat cars the number underneath really don’t mean a lot as almost all post war flatcars have that number on them as does some modern type flat cars. They put different trucks on different cars and used different color molded plastic for different cars. They didn’t have a different mold for each flat car they made just like 6464 boxcars for example ( theres dozen of examples) they used different color plastic for some and others were just painted to make all the different cars.

my Greenberg’s Lionel pocket guide list he following flat cars as no number

6401,6402,and 6406 Which all are wrong type of flat car for you this is the shorter with out brakewheels

it also list no number rolling stock numbers 3413,3510,6111,6121,6151,6407,6408,6409,6469,6500,6501,6502, & 6512

okay lets break this set of numbers down

3413 Red Mercury Capsule Launching Car

3510 bright red no number satellite launching car

6111 came in the following colors and just listed as a flat car so I guess no load fire engine red,bright red, maroon, medium yellow, light gray, glossy dark gray, gray-drab, battleship gray

6121 ( this was various colors and I believe it was metal)

6151 another version of the metal flat car but with range rover truck

6407 red flat car with missile

6408 red flat with pipes

6409 same as above 2 less gray plastic pipes thou
