We now know the length and number of cars, but what was the total tonnage?
20,200 tons if all 140 cars are 286K cars, 18,400 tons if all are 263K. Somewhere in between if mixed.
Now that’s gunna fill a lot of sand boxes!!!
A friend of mine who worked for cp-soo and now iais and I saw a 222 car empty sand train at south pekin, il in 2014. This may be the longest loaded train, but I am sure we saw one of the longer empty sand trains.
