Union Pacific 1995...SD80MAC?

I belong to the Springfield Model Railroad Club in Springfield, Illinois, and we just recently hosted a train fair a few weeks ago. As I was walking through the displays before the show officially started, I noticed one of the displays had (either O or S, couldn’t tell, didn’t bother to ask) what I thought was Union Pacific SD70ACe 1995. However, after further examining the locomotive, I saw the cab looked a little off for an ACe. I then noticed that the rear of the locomotive had the distinct recesses of an SD80MAC. So, I tracked down one of the people running the display and, in my naivete, asked which one of them put together the decals, figuring it was a custom job, since I knew the real 1995 was an SD70ACe, not an SD80MAC. He kept swearing up and down it was a factory job. Does anyone know of any company who would have put together an SD80MAC bearing UP 1995’s appearance in any scale? I mean, it’s not that I doubt him, it’s just I’m curious as to know which company made it.

The real Union Pacific 1995 is a SD70ACe Chicago & North Western heritage unit –

Whatever he had, if it is not decorated this way then it’s a phony paint scheme and number. I believe MTH made this model in O scale.

It’s a SD-90 but I think this is the one you are talking about, http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/products.php?act=viewProd&productId=2448

The Bachmann model is a phony, the pictures of the real thing are clearly a 70ACe, note the exposed wiring and piping under the walkways. UP is dismantling all of its true SD90MACs (the ones with the 265H prime movers - which is probably the reason, one oddball out of all the others) and the SD9043MACs with 710’s don’t really look like an SD70ACe. They may be functionally equivalent to an SD70MAC. So Bachmann pulled a fast one and threw a paint scheme on the wrong loco.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I saw. I was just curious as to what company made that. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I thought the only plastic SD90MACs in HO and N are Kato? Of course Kato now has the SD70ACe in N scale too:)
