I’ve heard several rumors recently that 4014 is out and about On UP’s networks. These rumors come from less-than-reliable sources (discord, mainly). Is there any truth to them? I would’ve thought that Union Pacific would announce any and all trips made by the Big Boy since its main purpose is to be a massive PR stunt by the railroad. But maybe I’m wrong. Can anyone confirm or deny if 4014 does unscheduled trips?

I would say the only unscheduled runs would be break in runs after shopping or other repairs. Those would only be short out and back trips, not roaming the system.
It takes a lot of logistics to take any long trips. Not many fuel and water plugs around anymore.
