I had planned on catching her at Calhoun Bluff Rd and HWY 24/K4 then chase her and catch her at Linwood then Bonner Springs but, she was way late and I ended up catching her at Bonner Springs. Jim do you reside in Holton and model the KCS?

Ch

I have lived near Kansas City (Kansas City MO, Sedailia MO, Topeka KS, Holton KS) most of my adult life. I started out modeling the CB&Q across Iowa, then swiched to a free lance line which I called the Kansas and Western which ran from KC area north and west.

I like modeling EMD locomotives both F units and SD units. I like unit grain trains and unit coal trains. I stumbled across the KCS quite by accident. The KCS runs a lot of unit grain trains off the CN&W from Iowa and unit coal trains off of the BN. Most of my friends in Topeka model the Santa Fe or Union Pacific and I wanted to do something different. The KCS seemed to address all of my modeling needs.

I recently moved to a new basement (home) and will be again constructing my KCS layout. (I have a temporary 10’ x20’ modular plywood pacific that allowed me to run trains the five years that I spent between basements.) I model (HO scale) the KCS (1981) from Kansas City then south. I do not model specific towns execpt for KC. The KCS is a bridge line to the south. I model the KCS/MILW joint agency terminal aka Knoche Yard. My layout has several KC area staging yards which can represent the (ATSF, BN, CNW, ICG, KCT, KATY, MP, NW, SSW(ROCK) or UP) This allows my friends to run their favorite RR.
