Union Pacific AC4400 6344 One of a Kind???

Take a look at the web page below and comment on the picture. I saw this on Trainorders and no one seems to know why this unit is painted this way. More than one picture has been posted and it shows several views so it does not seem to be photo shopped.

This would make an easy model to paint and decal.

This came up on the Atlas forum a few days ago, so far no one there has the answer. [D)]

This came up in the trains forum on this site a few days ago. Here’s the link.

If this is the new Union Pacific paint scheme, then someone at the corprate office needs to be slapped.

That IS pretty cool! Not sure if it matters, but 6344 is an ex-SP unit.

Like I said, if that is the new paint job, then someone at UP needs to be slapped.

wow remind me not to tick you off [:D]

With all the repaints UP is doing they probably ran out of ArmourYellow. [:)]

Are you kidding? I highly doubt they ran out of armor yellow. They’d be more apt to run out of paint for the heritage SD70ACs.

Ok, this is what a friend of mine told me that has a buddy that works for UP. That loco was painted by a different person/co. then normal. It was a mix up and it slipped out of the paint shop as we see it now. Also there was a run on that loco by Athearn. They made this engine a while back when it was out. Same collor and number. So you CAN get this engine if you want it. Its a very rare engine to have as Athearn only did it once. Also like someone said before, 6344 was an ex SP number… Personally, I think the engine looks good. I purchased this loco when Athearn did a run of it and its pretty nice.
